As a matter of fact, upon closer examination of the card I have in
hand I see that in addition to the Xterasys label on the back of
the card there is another with the FCC ID: M4Y-XG-900, and there
is yet another sticker (for a total of three, each with a different
bar code) which has three id numbers, one of which is XG-901.

If other cards share the FCC ID, I'd suggest that as the most
authoritative identifier.

On the other hand, what are other wireless drivers doing?  Hostap
appears to just put "IEEE 802.11b", do you want to put "IEEE 802.11g",
and not worry about being card specific?

The truth is, I never even looked at that part until you mentioned it.
Is that field described/specified?  I have not looked in the wireless
tools/extensions code, so I am woefully uninformed at present.
