Hmm.. Are you saying that you actually got the AssocReq out from the
card? If I remember correctly, I was able to convince Prism54 to
complete authentication, but things started getting ugly when I tried to
convince it to send out an Association Request with WPA IE.. I can get
more than enough debug info out from the AP ;-), but the issue I saw was
something that needed sniffer and good guessing abilities because the
PrismGT firmware behavior did not seem to match the documentation..

In other words, the problem for me was in getting the extended MLME mode
working properly. I think I tried it even without any encryption and it
still failed most of the time.. I should know how to complete the other
parts of the support for wpa_supplicant, but I didn't think they were
that important before this association issue gets resolved.
