I have tried everything I can but I cannot get my Edimax EW-7101PCG 802.11g card
To work on Linux.
I am running Linux 2.4.26. I have tried both methods of building the kernel driver but
I guess that’s not my problem.
Cat /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug    gives   /sbin/hotplug
/sbin/hotplug is present
/sbin/hotplug gives firmware as one of the agent files
I have copied firmware.agent to etc/hotplug (I did not edit this file in any way!!!)
I have copied 2 different versions of the firmware file to /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/isl3890
Note that I downloaded the firmware using windows as I haven’t got internet functionality
Working on my linux machine as yet.
I did chmod +x firmware.agent
And chmod +x isl3890

Kernel Log file:

cs: cb_alloc(bus3): Vendor 0x1260, device 0x3890
PCI: Enabling device 03:00.0 (0000 -> 0002)
divert: allocating divert_blk for eth0
eth0: prism54 driver detected card model: PRISM Duette/GT
eth0: islpci_open()
eth0: resetting device…
eth0: uploading firmware…
prism54: request_firmware() failed for ‘isl3890’
eth0: could not upload firmware (‘isl3890’)

I am at the end of my tether with this problem and would be grateful for any help!

Best regards,

Willie O’Halloran
