Hi,

Unfortunatly no fix from me. Instead just a "me too" for a SMC2835W
(pc-card).

I'm seeing exactly the same symptoms you describe:

- Firmware upload works. "ifconfig -a" reports the device including
  its MAC address.

- The card slowly blinks several times and will eventually repeat that
  later.

- Configuring (iwconfig) and querying (iwlist) the card results in
timeouts. "islpci_mgt_response(): queue empty, retrying" is reported
  in syslog, then.

I tried with drivers from 11.04 and 11.08 and both for kernel
2.4.23-pre9 and 2.6.0-test9. Problems persist in all cases.

I even assumed that the card itself is broken, although this gets a
bit unlikely now that I know others are seeing the same problems.

This is basically a RedHat 9 system on a Compaq Evo N800C
notebook. Other cards work beautifully, so I guess its not a PCMCIA
issue.

Any hints greaty appreciated.

Stephan
