JFYI a little update.. I have used Slackware Linux until a few months ago. Now 
I'm on Debian (Sarge) and still experience the same problem as before... I 
have to live without WEP because as soon as I enable it, I can not transfer 
more than a few MB. I have already tried different firmware versions for both 
the WG511 and the AP to no success. IPSec works fine too, but WEP would be so 
much easier to configure... *frustrated*
