I have the same problem, but for me disabling WEP did not help.
Throttleing the device with 'iwconfig eth1 reate 5.5M auto' improves the
situation, but there are still periods where traffic is stuck.

If I ping the remote end I get strongly differing transfer times, usually 10ms
but then 300 ms for some seconds, dopping down the ten again.
It looks a bit like Bug 106 (Link quality varies), but that is said to be a
reporting problem only. Is that sure?
