[Prism54-devel] System freeze after request_firmware called three times

I am using a PC with a mini-PCI module D-Links DWL-g650 A1 (rev 01) and SuSE
9.0 with kernel 2.4.21-144-default. Following the different topics like...

* adding the new hotplug from 2004-01-05 together with firmware.agent
* applying the hotplug patch for support of pcimodules
* modprobing prism54
* doing the ipconfig eth1 up

...I got the following message

SIOCSIFFLAGS: Resource temporarily unavailable

... and the system freezes.

The last few messages of `tail -f /var/log/messages` show the following 

linux kernel: eth1: uploading firm
linux kernel: eth1: uploading firmware..
linux kernel: eth1: uploading firmware...
