[Prism54-users] do I need to download a driver for 2.6.11 ?

Looks good so far, the driver loads and a network interface is created.
The only small problem is that your net.agent doesn't know how to bring
the interface up.
Try the following:
iwconfig
The interface should be shown as "NOT READY!".
ifconfig <ethX> up
This brings up the interface and uploads the firmware.
iwconfig
now the "NOT READY!" should disappear and you should be able to
configure you card.
If you get errors when running "ifconfig <ethX> up" or something doesn't
work as expected, have a look at you kernel logs.
