This is a bit off-topic, but I know some of you are using the ndiswrapper
module to drive SMC 2802Wv2 cards while we're waiting for the prism54
implementation and was wondering if someone could shed any light onto
this problem:

modprobe ndiswrapper
iwconfig wlan0 mode ad-hoc
iwconfig wlan0 essid nexusuk
ifconfig wlan0 192.168.1.254 up
iwconfig wlan0
wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:""
          Mode:Ad-Hoc Frequency:2.462GHz Cell: FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF
          Bit Rate:2Mb/s
          RTS thr:2347 B Fragment thr:2346 B
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality:100 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

I'm not sure why it's not reporting the essid that I've set there, or the
correct bit rate (I guess that's just a problem with the status reporting
- - "iwlist scan" lists the card itself with the correct essid). However,
the card just isn't working. It doesn't see my other machine (also
running in ad-hoc mode) and if I run kismet on the other machine I don't
see any beacon or anything. I'm a bit at a loss now - everything I've
read says this should just work and I've run out of things to try.
