Is that meant to mean "eth2"?

You must set an IP address for your eth2 card.  No IP address,
no ping.  It must be in the same subnet as your Win2000 client,
e.g. use 192.168.1.29.  Note that IP addresses are per-interface,
not per-computer!

I thought you wanted to connect to your WLAN card?  So you must
put in the IP address of your WLAN card as the gateway.
