Hi again,

I just have looked at the Netgear homepages. I could not find any hints
for a version 2 of the WG511. But I noticed that they also sell a WG511T
(108Mbit/s) and a WAG511 (802.11a/b/g). These cards might not work with
the prism54 driver.

  <pre wrap="">Hi John,

are you sure that your Netgear WG511 card has a TI chip? Is it something
like Version 2 of the WG511? If so this should be mentioned somewhere on
the 'supported cards' page. The WG511 I own is working with the prism
driver and has an Intersil chip.

I hope that the manufactures of this card will stop to change the
hardwre while keeping the name. It would help the Linux-comunity a lot.

I did have similar problems on my Acer Travelmate 613TXC. I solved the
problem by using the boot-parameters 'pci=noacpi,scanbus,lastbus=9' .
You can place it in your lilo.conf file. For more details have a look at
/usr/src/linux/Documents/kernel-params.txt (or something similar, I am
working on a different computer right now).

According to a Windows box, this card has a TI chip .... *sigh*

I think I'm going to try an SMC2835W next ...
