Hi there,
just placed a new Prism54 Card (Allnet ALL0271) in on of my Desktop
Machines.=20

Despite the fact that I have a SMC2835W running in my Notebook now for
some 4 months, I didn't manage to get this thing to work.

First of all:
I don't get the firmware uploaded. When checking the list in the README,
all looks fine:

*) does "cat /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug" show something like
     "/sbin/hotplug"?
yes

  *) is /sbin/hotplug present?

positive

*) is the "firmware" agent is present (call /sbin/hotplug without
any argument to show a list of available agents)

OK

*) have you copied the firmware file into the folder expected by
     firmware.agent? (usually "/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/")

Yes, and path matches the entry in /etc/hotplug/firmware.agent

ksyms -a | egrep "request_firmware|release_firmware|register_firmware"
also produces the desired output.

... but the lspci -v produces 16a5:1605 and not 1260:3890 ...

Any ideas, where else I might look?

Could this be related to current gentoo-sources Kernel-Patches (I use
gentoo-sources-2.4.25).

My second big question is, how or where do I tell my gentoo-System the
essid, wep-key and so forth, since there is no /etc/sysconfig tree ...

Thanks a lot in advance!

STefan.
