I know this one---

make sure the file isl3890 is the latest and is in /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware
and that the hotplug utility shows firmware support.

Firmware support is fixed by putting a file firmware.agent into /etc/hotplug
you can find a version of this file at

which is a short version but I got one from prism54.org

you can test this by

 # /sbin/hotplug

it should state "firmware" as one of the outputs.
