Thnaks to all ! AAndre Duclos had the final word, its trick in
/etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts/ifcfg-eth1 was the good one for my card
to work.

Fedora Core 1
Linux kernel 2.4.23 patched along prism54.org indications
Netgear WG511
firmware from prism54


One problem still : it is awfully slow
