If you refer to my first post with the error code when
I ran 'make', it was a temporary problem because I had
stupidly enabled in menuconfig an option as in the
kernel rather than as module. This was sorted pretty
much straight away. Just the second problem remains
now.

To try that fix you gave me the correction for, could
you please confirm that I need to change the line
before patching and recompiling?
