[Prism54-users] strange errors? or maybe not

Hi people, well this is my problem:

i'm running linux-2.4.23 kernel with patch-2.4.23-prism54-cvs20031205.bz2

when i start the machine without the prism54 in the /etc/modules file i can see
in the dmesg something like this:

Starting hotplug subsystem: input** can't synthesize input events - /proc/bus/input/devices missing
 pci** can't synthesize pci hotplug events
  usbsync:[001  001  002  001  ] .

but when i try start the machine with prism54 in the /etc/modules the machine hangs
(something like kernel panic).

for more details, i'm using debian sid, smc 2802w, and the firmware file is
located on /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/    (version 1.0.4.3)

more details:

# dpkg -L hotplug | grep firmware

	/etc/hotplug/firmware.agent
