No sorry. I applied the patch to CVS tarball from 01.12.2003 16:30 with 
md5sum:

4d6be0bbc14d2ba42bf42d85e4911b78 *prism54-cvs20031201.tar.bz2

As with every newer driver the "iwconfig ethX mode ad-hoc" command is not 
working. It seems that the "ad-hoc" command switches the driver/card to 
"master" mode. I even tried some other commands before the iwconfig ethX 
mode ad-hoc command like "iwconfig ethX channel 3" but nothing worked.

Please note that the driver isl3890-2.4.22-v2.patch.bz work fine with my 
SMC card in ad-hoc mode. Newer drivers give errors messages like:

islpci_mgt_response(): entry in queue not found yet, retrying (jiffies left 
= 100
