I tried a little more and captured the following Oops when I unplugged the
cardd (note: This oops did not happen without your patch, I was able to
insert another card and it worked):

eth2: hot unplug detected
eth2: removing device

Shortly after removing the card, I get a freeze, kernel panic with blinking
LEDs. Can that be caused by your patch? I don't really understand what it
does, but it seems to at least have any effect. What more can I do to get
useful information out of it?

Thanks,

sebas
