the problem was the timeout on management frames, which happenend due to a 
failed kmalloc in the mgmt receive function. this happend always on the first 
"ifconfig eth1 up".

with the patch-combined-2005-05-25 it works flawless now. i have problems with 
the later version (2005-06-06), however, as reported.
