I have experienced this bug too.

Config : linux mandrake 10.1, netgear wg511 in managed mode,
AP : linksys wrt54G with sveasoft satori 4.0 firmware, wep128

The link die quickly on high rate mode (seeing a nfs mounted dvd by example), 
whatever driver i use  (1.1, 1.2 or cvs), but what i found is that is is kernel
version dependant : It freezes with 2.6.8.1, 2.6.9, but it works perfectly with
2.6.7 on the same box !!, so i have downgraded my mandrake 10.1 to 2.6.7 kernel.

But, since 2.6.9 and coming 2.6.10 offers cool features and (needed for my
digital camera) usb-storage improvement, i hope that prism54 will run flawlessly
on recent kernel soon :-) !
