Okay. Box survived more that eight hours of 1.5 MBytes/s
over prism54 in both directions at once + 10Mbytes/s over
100Mbit full duplex ethernet (Realtek 8139) +
4 Mbytes/s steady IDE write at multiword DMA 0.

So far, it is clear that VIA IDE controller in VIA
VT82C686A/B southbridge (I think I have B) and SMC 2802W
do not like each other and fight over PCI bus,
locking it up. Having no bus analuzer, I cannot
debug it further.

Strange thing is, both of them cope well with Realtek.
