What dBm? If you mean this:

Bit Rate:54Mb/s   Tx-Power=31 dBm   Sensitivity=20/200
Link Quality:0  Signal level:0  Noise level:250

These values float semi-randomly. I don't trust 'em at all.

Regarding 'bigger antenna'. I am testing cards in-house.
I can connect them to 6 foot long outdoor waveguides
and it will probably drive signal strength thru the roof,
but what's the point in simulating 'very good' link?
I need to simulate and test 'not that good' links ;)
