The crashing at bringing the interface down might be fixed with the recent
changes I had made. The thing I'm concerned about are these:

Jan 29 13:34:02 plankje kernel: _mgt_get_request(): data length (64!=1452

Jelte, can you try the latest snapshot and report back?
