Summary: SMC2802W crash after data dransfer with SMC2835W
Product: prim54
Version: 1.0.2.2
Platform: ia32
OS/Version: Linux 2.6
Status: NEW
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: Device Driver
AssignedTo: prism54-devel@prism54.org
ReportedBy: uwe.hermann@gmx.net
First: I used the SMC2802W since 2-3 months, first on Linux-2.4.23-24, now with
linux-2.6.5 - there was never a problem.
Now I bought a SMC2835W (V2) for my laptop and used the Win2000 driver. This
driver crashes, if I use the link for longer data transfer with higher speed
(means: I can download a 20MB file from internet in lowspeed, but if i try to
transfer 2MB from PC to PC the windows driver crashes)
OK, so I tried Linux-2.6.5 on my laptop with the builtin prism54 driver,
configured, first ping - it works. Now the test: copy a big file from PC to PC
and wait for the crash. I transferred 3.6MB until the link was down.
But no - not the SMC2835W was down, the PCI card crashes. If I tried to show the
config with iwconfig eth1, the result was: No wireless extension. After
reloading the driver on the PC the card seems to be OK, after the first "ping
packet" the card crashes again.
What can I do to catch the bug?
